Getting started

What is Curdle?

Curdle is a personal cheese tasting journal. Add cheese wheels, track aging toward peak flavor, log tastings with scores and voice notes, and record wine & food pairings — all on your device.

Do I need an account?

No. Curdle works on your device with no sign-up. Back up your iPhone regularly via iCloud or Finder so you don’t lose your cave if you replace your device.

How do I add my first cheese?

Open the Cheeses tab and tap Add Cheese. Enter name, origin, milk, rind, aging days, and optionally turn on open-date tracking so the Aging Board can count down to peak.

What is a tasting log vs a pairing?

A tasting log records one tasting session for a cheese you already added (texture, sharpness, notes, photos, voice). A pairing records which wine and food worked well with that cheese.

Aging & reminders

How does peak aging work?

When open-date tracking is on, Curdle estimates days until peak from your aging plan. Stages include Still Aging, Near Peak, At Peak, and Past Peak. The Aging Board highlights cheeses that need attention soon.

When do aging reminders fire?

Enable Me → Aging Reminders. Curdle schedules one local notification at 10:00 AM local time on each tracked cheese’s peak day. Only cheeses with a future peak are scheduled.

Notifications aren’t working

Check iOS Settings → Notifications → Curdle and allow alerts. In the app, confirm Aging Reminders is on. If permission was denied earlier, open Settings from the in-app prompt and enable notifications, then toggle reminders off and on again.

Coins & purchases

What are coins for?

Coins are in-app currency used for features such as extra wheel slots. You start with a free balance and can buy more in Me → Coin Shop.

Purchase didn’t credit coins

Wait a moment and reopen Coin Shop. If coins still don’t appear, email support@curdle.app with your Apple ID email, approximate purchase time, and product pack. Do not share payment card numbers.

Request a refund

In-app purchases are processed by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com or via Apple Support. We cannot issue refunds on Apple’s behalf.

Data & privacy

How do I delete all my data?

Open Me → Clear All Data. This permanently removes all cheeses, tasting logs, and pairings and resets coins to the default starting amount. This cannot be undone.

Where is my data stored?

Everything stays on your device. Curdle does not sync to our servers. See the full Privacy Policy for permissions, purchases, and data handling.

Troubleshooting

Photos or camera won’t work

Go to iOS Settings → Curdle and enable Camera and Photos. If you previously denied access, reopen the feature and follow the prompt to Settings.

Voice notes won’t record or play

Enable Microphone for Curdle in iOS Settings. For playback issues, make sure Silent Mode isn’t blocking media if your device routes audio that way, then try again from the tasting log detail.

The app crashed or feels stuck

Force-quit and reopen Curdle. Update to the latest iOS version supported by the app. If it continues, email support@curdle.app with device model, iOS version, and what you were doing.

Food & tasting disclaimer

Curdle is for personal tasting notes and aging reminders only — not food-safety or medical advice. When in doubt about spoilage, discard the cheese and follow trusted guidance.
